Far too often we put our happiness on hold. If we can afford this new pair of shoes, we will be happy. If we get promoted, we will finally be happy. But we always find new things, outside of ourselves to aim for in order to become happy.

We forget to recognize that happiness is much more than materialistic pleasures (even if they can be a nice part of it). Happiness is a decision, every day. We have the choice to be happy about some beautiful daisies, a little ladybug on our finger, the first sip of our morning coffee and the smile of a stranger. But often we don’t even notice these moments consciously and they pass by without the chance to make us happy. Our decision to embrace the beautiful small moments in life changes the way we see things. It’s reprogramming our brain to escape the loop of constant complaints, regret, and worry.
If we learn to influence our thoughts towards the things in life we can be grateful for, it will spread out to other areas in our lives as well. Because happiness is not outside of us, its already inside, we just have to discover it!
Remember, happiness doesn’t depend
on who you ARE or what you HAVE;
it solely depends on what you THINK.
Dale Carnegie
